Homeschooling

Way back when I was in 2nd grade, my class was asked what we wanted to be when we grew up. My answer was, “A Teacher!” To this day I am still passionate about being an educator, not just to my children to but to everyone whom crosses my path. That is in fact one reason why I decided to start this blog. My passion for sharing my life’s experiences will hopefully influence some of you out there and inspire you!

Over the years my passion for teaching evolved from wanting to teach theater arts in college to wanting to be an elementary teacher. This later desire is what led me to get my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development and Education at Oregon State and my even bigger passion was ignited when I completed my Waldorf Teacher Training after living in Eugene, OR.

After finishing my education and training, I always thought that I would be a teacher in a Waldorf School. However, life has a way of changing plans for you. When I became pregnant with my first child I knew that I would stay home until my last child started school. In effect, I have been a Homeschooling Momma since day one of parenthood. I just didn’t know it then! Once I became a mom, I implemented my whole life’s learning and passion to providing a healthy place for my children to grow and learn. Homeschooling became a natural part of that experience when my husband and I decided that we wanted to move closer to our extended family again in the South Dakota countryside and no where near a Waldorf School. Here I will share with you some of the “educational” fun that we experience as a family participating in the lessons of life with a strong influence from the Waldorf Philosophy.
